A challenging season !!Asparagus in Snow

This has been an unusually cold, cloudy and windy spring. This picture was taken May 18. The snow and cold have froze any tips that were poking up, but new tips will come up from the crowns with the warm weather. We were able to pick on Sunday proir to the storm and with the new moisture the asparagus will grow like crazy just as soon as we get a warm day.

Other happenings on our farm Airseeder & Tractor

Along with our asparagus we have a traditional grain and cattle farm. Yearly every spring about the time the asparagus is starting we are also frantically trying to seed 1,000 acres of annual crops. Picture is of Doug & myself in front of our Air Seeder that is used to precicely place the seed in the ground for optimum germination.

Our home raised hormone and antibiotic free Angus beefBaby Calves

We start our busy season with the arrival of the first baby calf mid February. This year's calving season went very well for us with all of our cows having lively, healthy babies to take to pasture just as soon as the sun shines and the grass grows.

All the beef that is for sale in our farm store was born, raised and fed on our farm, is hormone and antibiotic free and is quietly and humanely handled with respect.

The animals are processed at a local family ran provincially inspected plant.

Please be sure and stop by our farm store for a great selection of our home grown asparagus, homemade preserves, homemade frozen asparagus soup, homemade pies, home raised hormone and antibiotic free Angus Beef and other fresh locally grown seasonal produce as it becomes available.
