| | Dear Friends: We are back at The Old Strathcona Farmer's Market starting this Saturday May 2, 2009 with our delicious homemade asparagus pickles & relish, cream of asparagus soup, our asparagus cookbooks and more. | Sunrise over our asparagus fern this spring I took this picture one morning when I was out checking our baby calves the middle of February. It shows how well last year's fern traps the snow to provide moisture. We will be removing this old fern in the next few days as soon as the sun comes out and we are able to get on the field. | Sorry Folks, this picture was taken last year No asparagus yet!! The asparagus patch will start producing fresh, tender and succulent spears just as soon as it quits freezing at night. Today I dug down to see how the crowns are doing and they are looking very healthy with the first signs of new spears coming. We just need a few nice sunny, warm days and we will be picking. | Hope everyone has had a great winter and we are looking forward to seeing you all again. Please be sure and stop at the booth and have a sample of our delicious homemade asparagus pickles. We will be in the same location as last year, right in front of the concession. Sincerely, Elna Edgar Edgar Farms | | | |
